01The story

About Kumbalangi Integrated Tourism Village

Kumbalangi was developed as India's first model tourism village, showing visitors everyday backwater life rather than built attractions. Chinese fishing nets line the banks, and villagers farm fish, prawns and crabs in the shallow water.

Visitors can watch the nets being worked, see country boats being built and enjoy home-style seafood, all within a short drive of the Pattanakkad block.

A well-known example of community-based, responsible tourism close to Pattanakkad.
